All the currently participating Formula One teams, including Ferari, formed the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) to negotiate the terms of the Concorde Agreement with the FIA.

BMW announced that they were withdrawing from Formula One at the end of the season, while Ferrari announced that Michael Schumacher would come out of retirement to replace the injured Felipe Massa for the European Grand Prix at Valencia.
